The City of Savannah’s Cultural Resources Department is accepting applications for the 2025-2026 Junior Cultural Affairs Commission (Jr. CAC) program starting August 1. The Jr. CAC serves as a companion to the main Cultural Affairs Commission (CAC), which is an 18-member board appointed by the Mayor and Alderman to advise on arts and cultural programming in Savannah.

According to the city, “Jr. CAC is a companion program to The Cultural Affairs Commission (CAC) designed to offer school-aged youth an opportunity to help shape arts and culture in Savannah. CAC is an 18-member board appointed by the Mayor and Alderman who advise and recommend arts and cultural programming for the City of Savannah.”

Students selected for Jr. CAC will review programs funded through Cultural Contribution initiatives and provide feedback on how these efforts affect local youth and their communities. Participants will also contribute ideas for future art, culture, and history programming within the city.

The application process is open from August 1 through August 31 for students in grades 9-12 who attend public or private schools within Savannah city limits. Selected students can earn volunteer hours through their participation.

“Students who sit on Jr. CAC will review Cultural Contribution funded programs and supply input on how art and cultural programming impacts local youth and their communities. They will also help develop future art, culture, and history programming for the City of Savannah,” according to information provided by the department.

For more details or to apply, interested students and parents are encouraged to visit the City of Savannah’s website.
