U.S. Representative Buddy Carter, a Republican from Georgia, used his social media platform this week to address several legislative and political issues, including the Biden administration’s use of autopen for pardons, support for forest landowners through new legislation, and ongoing government funding negotiations.

On September 8, 2025, Carter referenced former President Donald Trump’s criticism of President Joe Biden’s use of an autopen for signing pardons. Carter stated, “.@realDonaldTrump is correct: Biden’s autopen scandal is HUGE. I introduced the SIGN Pardons Act, ensuring our country is never again run by backroom Democrat operatives.”

The following day, Carter highlighted his sponsorship of the Disaster Reforestation Act (DRA), emphasizing its importance to Georgia’s timber industry. He wrote on September 9, 2025: “I am proud to sponsor the Disaster Reforestation Act (DRA), and I am grateful to see so much support from forest landowners across the country! Georgia leads the nation in timberland acreage, supporting 55,000+ jobs and generating $36B+ in economic impact. The DRA will ensure”.

Later that same day, Carter commented on ongoing budget negotiations in Congress and potential government shutdowns. He posted: “Republicans are doing our job. Senate Democrats are refusing to do theirs. If the government shuts down, make no mistake—it’s the Schumer Shutdown.”

Buddy Carter has maintained a strong electoral record in Georgia over multiple election cycles. In 2024, he defeated Patti Hewitt with 62% of the vote; previous victories include wins against Wade Herring in 2022 (59.15%), Joyce Griggs in 2020 (58.35%), Lisa Ring in 2018 (57.8%), and Brian Reese in 2014 (60.9%).
