Later that day at 18:52 UTC, he asked his audience to join him in solidarity with Charlie Kirk’s family: “Please join me in prayers for Charlie Kirk and his family.”

By 20:52 UTC, Carter issued a more detailed statement regarding the incident affecting the Kirk family. He wrote, “My heart breaks for the Kirk family.

Charlie Kirk was a beacon of conservative politics, a patriotic American who engaged young people on issues that mattered and encouraged critical thinking.

This senseless act of violence will be met with the full force of the law.”

Buddy Carter has served as U.S. Representative since winning election in Georgia’s 1st Congressional District in 2014. He has consistently secured re-election over several cycles, including victories over Brian Reese in 2014 (60.9% to 39.1%), Joyce Griggs in 2020 (58.35% to 41.65%), Wade Herring in 2022 (59.15% to 40.85%), and Patti Hewitt in 2024 (62% to 38%).
