U.S. Representative Buddy Carter, a Republican who has consistently secured re-election since 2014, posted several messages on his social media account reflecting on recent events and commemorations.

On August 26, 2025, Carter drew attention to crime trends in the nation’s capital, writing: ” In 2024, Washington, D.C. averaged over THREE homicides every single week. Today marks the 12th straight day WITHOUT A SINGLE homicide. The President of Peace has done it again!”.

Later that same day, Carter acknowledged the anniversary of a significant military tragedy by posting: “On this day, we honor the 13 fallen heroes of Abbey Gate and the many more injured, representing one of the darkest days for our military in recent history. We will never forget their sacrifice.”

The following afternoon, Carter responded to another incident with a call for solidarity and gratitude towards first responders: “Please join me in prayer for the victims and families affected by today’s shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis. Our hearts are with the community during this time of tragedy, and we are grateful for the brave law enforcement officers and first responders on”.

Buddy Carter has held office as U.S. Representative through multiple election cycles. In 2024, he won reelection against Patti Hewitt with approximately 62% of the vote; previous victories include wins over Wade Herring in 2022 (59.15%), Joyce Griggs in 2020 (58.35%), Lisa Ring in 2018 (57.8%), and Brian Reese in 2014 (60.9%).
