Buddy Carter, U.S. Congressman representing Georgia’s 1st district, recently used his social media platform to comment on a range of economic and policy issues, including Federal Reserve interest rates, immigration enforcement, and American energy exports.

On July 31, 2025, Carter called for lower interest rates in response to recent economic indicators. He wrote, “We must LOWER rates. Inflation is cooling, and Q2 GDP smashed expectations. Americans are waiting; the Fed needs to act! “

A day later, on August 1, 2025, Carter promoted legislation aimed at holding city leaders accountable for crimes committed by undocumented immigrants in sanctuary cities. In his post he stated: “The ERIC ADAMS Act will hold mayors of sanctuary cities criminally liable for murders committed in their jurisdictions by illegal aliens. Laken Riley and countless others could still be alive today if our immigration laws were respected. These mayors have blood on their hands,” referencing recent debates over sanctuary city policies.

Later that same day, Carter commented on an international trade agreement involving American energy exports to Europe: “Flashback: This week, @POTUS negotiated a trade deal with Europe that includes $750B in AMERICAN energy purchases by the E.U.! That means more pipelines, more jobs, and a stronger economy for all Americans. American energy dominance is back!”

Buddy Carter has held his congressional seat since 2014 after defeating Brian Reese in the general election with approximately 61% of the vote. He continued to secure reelection in subsequent cycles: winning against Lisa Ring in 2018 with nearly 58% of votes; Joyce Griggs in 2020 with about 58%; Wade Herring in 2022 with roughly 59%; and Patti Hewitt most recently in 2024 with around 62%.
