Rep. Earl L. “Buddy” Carter (R-GA) cast his vote alongside House Republicans in favor of the Military Construction, Veterans Affairs (VA), and Related Agencies Appropriations Act of 2026. This act aims to provide full funding for essential military construction projects as well as veteran programs and resources.

Carter emphasized the commitment of House Republicans to support veterans, aligning with former President Trump’s America First policy regarding military and veteran affairs. He stated, “This important piece of legislation will appropriate $452.64 billion to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to fully fund veteran benefits and VA programs, with a special emphasis on health care and combating homelessness.”

Expressing pride in Georgia’s First Congressional District’s significant number of active-duty military personnel and veterans, Carter pledged continued support for practical legislation that honors these individuals.

The appropriations act includes several key provisions such as:

– $131.4 billion dedicated to fully funding veterans’ medical care.
– $52.67 billion allocated for the Toxic Exposures Fund (TEF).
– $18 billion set aside for military construction and family housing.
– Funding aimed at establishing the Bridging Rental Assistance for Veteran Empowerment (BRAVE) program.
– Financial support for mental health programs and other vital services relied upon by veterans.
