Congressman Allen hosts signing day for Georgia-12 military academy appointees

Today, Congressman Rick W. Allen hosted a signing day ceremony for students from Georgia’s 12th District who have been accepted into one of the nation’s military service academies. The academies include the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York; the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland; the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut; the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York; and the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

During the event, Congressman Allen recognized several students whose service academy nominations he sponsored. He also presented each student with a signed copy of the Congressional Record marking the occasion.

Students participating included Alexander Andrews from Coahulla Creek High School and Jack Godbee from Vidalia High School, both accepted to the United States Naval Academy. Jack Gray from Greenbrier High School will attend the United States Merchant Marine Academy. Kai Agyemang from Lakeside High School is headed to the United States Air Force Academy. Tyrone Miller from Carlucci American International High School and Wyatt Spaulding from Greenbrier High School were accepted to the United States Military Academy. Bryce Reynierson from Augusta Christian High School was accepted to the United States Naval Academy Prep.

Some students were unable to attend, including John Epps from Lakeside High School who will join the United States Air Force Academy and Tyrone Miller who was also recognized for his acceptance to the United States Military Academy.

Congressman Allen stated: “It is extremely gratifying to nominate such qualified young leaders from our district to usher in this new generation of servicemen and women. I am honored to show our support for these selfless young students whose commitment to service and our great nation is truly remarkable. I have every confidence that these young leaders will go on to make the state of Georgia, and the United States of America, very proud.”
