Congressman Rick W. Allen visited the Golden Harvest Food Bank in Augusta, Georgia, where he met with the organization’s leadership team and volunteers. During his visit, he discussed the impact of the ongoing government shutdown on local communities and donated nutritious food items.
Allen expressed appreciation for those involved with Golden Harvest Food Bank. “Golden Harvest is doing tremendous work to assist neighbors and communities in the CSRA by providing nutritious food resources to those in need. I remain grateful to the leadership team, employees, and volunteers for their unwavering dedication to helping families lead happy and healthy lives. Unfortunately, the ongoing government shutdown is having real consequences here in Georgia. Over one month ago, I voted to ensure the 1.4 million SNAP enrollees in Georgia would continue receiving benefits uninterrupted, and we need the Senate to follow suit immediately. Too much time has been wasted on political games as American families pay the price,” said Congressman Allen.
Allen has served as U.S. Representative for Georgia’s 12th District since 2015. In recent election cycles, he defeated Elizabeth Johnson in both 2024 and 2022 general elections, securing over 59% of votes each time. He also won previous elections against Francys Johnson in 2018, Patricia C. McCracken in 2016, and John Barrow in 2014.
