FOIA Request to Armstrong State University Regarding Chinese National Students on June 4, 2025.

As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Armstrong State University. This request seeks detailed information concerning the university’s current Chinese National students and their affiliations with various departments and scholarship programs.

Specifically, we are requesting documents or lists that identify all current students who are Chinese Nationals, along with their respective departments of study. In cases where student names are protected, we have asked for a total count of these students broken down by department. Additionally, we seek information on the scholarships awarded to these students, including the amount and source of each scholarship.

Moreover, our request includes a list of recipients affiliated with the Chinese Scholarship Council. If this information overlaps with previous requests, we have asked for clarification on which scholarships satisfy this criterion.

Furthermore, we are interested in understanding how Armstrong State University monitors its students, including Chinese Nationals, to safeguard its Intellectual Property and other confidential information. We have requested any relevant policies or procedures in this regard.

This inquiry is conducted on behalf of Savannah Standard and The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy. As media professionals dedicated to transparency and accountability in public institutions, access to such records is vital for us to fulfill our responsibilities. We believe this qualifies us for a fee waiver under the Georgia Open Records Act.
