Savannah Chamber and Visit Savannah staff recently attended a ceremony to unveil a new historic marker honoring Dr. Ralph Mark Gilbert, recognized as the “Father of Civil Rights in Savannah.” The event was hosted by Civil Rights Museum CEO Vaughnette Goode-Walker. Among the speakers were Chatham County Commission Chairman Chester Ellis and former County Chairman Al Scott. Dr. Gilbert’s granddaughter was also present at the ceremony.
