Jon Burns, a Republican who has represented Georgia’s 159th House District since 2005, recently used his social media platform to address key issues and events impacting the state.

On August 4, 2025, Burns expressed support for students as they began the new academic year. He wrote, “Thanks to the Georgia House, students across the state are stepping into their classrooms with a strong foundation for success. Have a great school year, everyone! ️”

Later that day, he highlighted Georgia’s economic growth related to freight and logistics infrastructure. In his post dated August 4, 2025, Burns stated, “Georgia’s world-class freight and logistics network has attracted unprecedented opportunities and growth to every corner of our great state. The House is looking forward to what @nscorp’s historic announcement will contribute to the continued success of our communities and”

On August 6, 2025, following an incident at Fort Stewart, Burns offered condolences and called for support for those affected. He posted: “Dayle and I join alongside every Georgian in praying for the families and loved ones of those injured in today’s senseless tragedy at Fort Stewart. Please continue to lift up the entire Fort Stewart community and all of the brave men and women responding on the scene.”

Burns has served in the Georgia State House since succeeding Ray Holland in 2005.
