Jon Burns, a Republican member of the Georgia House of Representatives since 2005, used his social media platform to highlight recent political developments and legislative priorities in early January 2026.
On January 6, Burns encouraged voter participation in a special election for House District 23. He wrote, “It’s Election Day in House District 23!
Make sure to get out and vote for Bill Fincher to send a strong, commonsense conservative voice to represent Cherokee County in the Georgia House.”
The following day, after the results were announced, Burns congratulated the winner. On January 7 he posted, “Congratulations to Representative-elect Bill Fincher on his victory in HD 23!
House Republicans look forward to working alongside him to deliver results on the issues that matter most to Georgians across our great state.”
Later that same day, Burns outlined legislative goals for the upcoming session. In a tweet dated January 7, he stated: “The Georgia House is laser-focused on making life more affordable for our neighbors across the state.
Eliminate homestead property taxes

Burns has represented Georgia’s 159th House District since winning election in 2005, succeeding Ray Holland. As an established figure within the state’s Republican leadership, his posts reflect ongoing efforts by party leaders to mobilize voters and advance policy initiatives focused on affordability and essential services.
