Jon Burns, a Republican who has represented Georgia’s 159th House District since 2005, recently used his social media platform to highlight legislative developments and community celebrations in the state.

On April 1, 2026, Burns described the passage of new education legislation as a significant milestone for young learners in Georgia. He stated, “A historic day for Georgia’s children! The passage of the Georgia Early Literacy Act of 2026 marks a monumental step forward, ensuring every child who steps into a Georgia classroom has the opportunity to learn to read.”

Later that same day, Burns extended holiday greetings to Jewish residents across Georgia. In his message posted on April 1, he wrote, “Dayle and I are wishing our Jewish neighbors across the state a joyous and happy Passover celebration. Chag Sameach!”

On April 3, 2026, Burns addressed efforts by the state legislature to address insurance affordability. He congratulated a fellow lawmaker and noted recent progress: “The Georgia House has led the effort to make insurance coverage more affordable for families across the state. Congratulations to Rep. Matt Reeves on the final passage of HB 1344.”

Burns succeeded Ray Holland as representative of District 159 in the Georgia State House after being elected in 2005.
