Wayne State University in Detroit, founded in 1868, is an urban research institution offering more than 400 academic programs to 29,000 students on 13 campuses. The school claims the most diverse student body among Michigan’s public universities, and its student body represents every state and more than 65 countries. The university combines academic and practical experience in its curriculum. It operates Detroit Public Radio WDET 101.9 FM as part of its communications division. Allan Gilmour is university president.
