The Regional Industry Support Enterprise (RISE), together with International Paper, the City of Savannah, Chatham County, WorkSource Coastal, and Savannah Technical College, will host a large job fair covering eight counties on Thursday, September 11 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday, September 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will take place at Enmarket Arena in Savannah.

Job seekers from Bryan, Bulloch, Candler, Chatham, Effingham, Evans, Liberty and Screven counties are invited to attend. Organizers note that the event is especially relevant for employees of International Paper and DS Smith who have been affected by recent plant closures in Savannah and Riceboro.

“Job Palooza provides an important opportunity to connect all job seekers across our region, including those impacted by International Paper’s recent announcement regarding the closure of the Savannah and Riceboro plants,” said RISE President and CEO Anna Chafin.

Chafin continued: “Our goal is to support these individuals during this transition by connecting them with new opportunities and helping them continue to build strong futures here in our region.”

The event is described as the largest multi-county hiring effort in Coastal Georgia. Employers from various sectors will be present and conducting on-site interviews. Attendees are encouraged to bring multiple copies of their resume and dress professionally.

Workforce organizations and community partners will also be available at the fair to provide resources aimed at helping job seekers advance their careers.

There are no parking fees for attendees at Enmarket Arena. More details about participating employers can be found on RISE Savannah’s Job Palooza website.
