Today, the House of Representatives approved H.R. 3944, known as the Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act of 2026. This legislation allocates funds for military construction projects, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and associated agencies for Fiscal Year 2026. The bill aims to honor commitments to veterans and servicemembers while supporting national security initiatives.

Congressman Rick W. Allen (GA-12) expressed his support for the bill after casting his vote in favor. He stated, “It is fitting that our first appropriations bill for Fiscal Year 2026 provides for our veterans, servicemembers, and national security. We owe everything to those who have answered the call to defend our great nation, and it is our duty to ensure they are cared for in the manner they deserve.”

The legislation places emphasis on fully funding veterans’ health care and enhancing military housing quality for families. It also supports critical military construction projects nationwide.

H.R. 3944 includes provisions such as:

– Full funding for veterans’ health care.
– An advance allocation for the Toxic Exposures Fund.
– $943 million dedicated to medical and prosthetic research.
– Initiatives addressing mental health issues and homelessness among veterans.
– Nearly $18 billion allocated for military construction—a $470 million increase over Fiscal Year 2025.
– Increased investments targeting barrack deficiencies, enhancements in DoD laboratories, demolition of obsolete infrastructure, and a provision of $2 billion specifically for military housing.

Congressman Allen added: “This legislation prioritizes these heroes by fully funding veterans’ health care, investing in military housing to enhance the quality of life for military families, and supporting critical military construction projects across the country. I am proud to support this bill and remain grateful to our men and women in uniform, both past and present.”
