State Representative Arlene Beckles from Norcross has been chosen by Speaker Jon Burns to take part in the 2025 Georgia Legislative Leadership Institute (GLLI). The event is organized by the Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia.
Rep. Beckles expressed her gratitude for the opportunity, stating, “I am grateful to Speaker Burns for selecting me to participate in this prestigious leadership course, which is designed to help freshmen legislators develop their leadership abilities and become more effective lawmakers.” She also mentioned her eagerness to apply what she learns at the State Capitol during the next legislative session in January 2026.
The GLLI will occur from July 31 to August 3, 2025. It gathers selected freshman legislators nominated by Speaker Burns and Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones. Participants will engage in interactive sessions, breakout discussions, and peer learning opportunities.
Since its start in 2005, GLLI has trained over 200 Georgia legislators. The program aims to enhance new legislators’ leadership skills and decision-making capabilities within the Georgia General Assembly.
