State Representative Rick Townsend from Brunswick has been appointed to the Georgia Water Council by House Speaker Jon Burns. The council is responsible for ensuring coordination among state agencies in developing a comprehensive water management plan.
“I am thankful to Speaker Burns for appointing me to serve on the state’s Water Council,” Rep. Townsend stated. He emphasized his commitment to protecting Georgia’s natural resources and shaping sustainable water policies.
The Water Council, created by the Comprehensive Statewide Water Management Planning Act, includes members of the Georgia General Assembly and other state departments. It provides input to the Environmental Protection Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources regarding the water plan and recommends it for consideration by the General Assembly.
