Rick W. Allen, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Georgia’s 12th district since 2015, shared his views on recent developments in trade, inflation, and Medicaid through a series of tweets. Born in Augusta, Georgia in 1951, Allen graduated from Auburn University with a BS degree in 1973.
On May 12, Allen commented on President Biden’s reciprocal trade strategy by stating that it “continues to pay dividends—ensuring U.S. trade policy puts American interests FIRST.” He emphasized that reaching the new agreement is “a monumental step towards ending decades of unfair trade practices and America’s massive trade deficit with China” here.
The following day, on May 13, Allen remarked on the latest inflation statistics: “Annual inflation rate hit 2.3% in April, less than expected and LOWEST since 2021.” He attributed this decrease to policies focused on domestic energy production and eliminating burdensome regulations.
Later that day, he addressed efforts by the House Commerce Committee to strengthen Medicaid for future generations. The committee aims to do so by “rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse” as well as “increasing personal accountability to lift Americans out of poverty and re-enter society.”
Allen continues to focus on issues affecting his constituents while residing in Augusta.
