Rick W. Allen, U.S. Congressman representing Georgia’s 12th district since 2015, recently used his social media platform to discuss legislative efforts on consumer choice in household appliances and to recognize National Hire a Veteran Day.

On July 24, 2025, Allen posted: “The federal government has no business tilting the scales on what appliances Americans should buy. Proud to introduce this bill to preserve consumer choice.”

Continuing the theme of consumer rights, Allen followed up on July 25, 2025, stating: “It’s simple. When it comes to household appliances—American families want CHOICE, AFFORDABILITY, and AVAILABILITY. More via @DailyCaller: https://t.co/XBzsh0EXE6 https://t.co/VQ6A6DVwfK”

On the same day, Allen marked National Hire a Veteran Day with a post highlighting the contributions of veterans in the workforce: “Today is National Hire a Veteran Day! Veterans bring leadership, discipline, and a mission-driven mindset to the workplace. If you are an employer, consider the value a veteran can bring to your team!”

Allen was born in Augusta, Georgia in 1951 and continues to reside there. He graduated from Auburn University in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He succeeded John Barrow as representative for Georgia’s 12th district.
