Rick W. Allen, a U.S. Congressman representing Georgia’s 12th district since 2015, recently took to social media to discuss legislative efforts aimed at tax and border security reforms. Allen, who succeeded John Barrow in Congress and was born in Augusta, Georgia in 1951, highlighted the significance of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

On May 22, 2025, Allen announced via Twitter that “.@HouseGOP got the job done! I proudly voted to prevent a 24% tax hike for Georgia-12 taxpayers. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act is headed to the Senate.” This tweet underscored his commitment to preventing significant tax increases for constituents in his district.

Later that day, he further elaborated on the financial implications of expiring tax cuts by stating that “A family of four making the median income in the 12th District would see a $1,160 tax increase if the 2017 tax cuts expire. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act makes these tax cuts permanent and allows Georgia families to keep more of their hard-earned money!” This message emphasized how making these cuts permanent could benefit local families financially.

On May 23, Allen shifted focus towards national security concerns with another tweet highlighting border security measures included in the bill: “Border security is national security. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act provides an effective border wall system…” He detailed plans for constructing various barriers along the border as part of this legislative package.
