Rick W. Allen, serving in the U.S. Congress, representing Georgia’s 12th district, shared his thoughts through a series of tweets reflecting on national observances and economic indicators. Allen, who succeeded John Barrow in 2015, often combines his professional duties with personal reflections on significant days.

On May 1, 2025, Allen marked the National Day of Prayer by urging citizens to reflect on the nation’s unity under a higher power. He quoted a biblical passage “Do not let this book of law depart from your lips, be careful to do what it says – meditate on it night and day – and we will be prosperous and successful.”

The following day, May 2, 2025, Allen commented on recent economic developments by highlighting the addition of 177,000 jobs in April, a figure that surpassed expectations for the second consecutive month “177,000 jobs added in April. Second straight month where the jobs report has beaten expectations!”

In a later tweet on the same day, Allen paid homage to military personnel, acknowledging their continuous sacrifice and dedication. The sentiment expressed national gratitude for their service and its role in safeguarding freedom “This month, we proudly honor the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of those who wear the uniform. Your service protects our freedom, and we are forever grateful.”

Allen, aged 71, was born and currently resides in Augusta, Georgia. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree at Auburn University in 1973.
