Following a national recruitment search, the City of Savannah has appointed Jason Pagliaro as the Senior Director of the Office of Special Events, Film, and Tourism. Pagliaro has an extensive background in public service within the community.

He served for nearly two decades with the Savannah Police Department. In his role as sergeant in charge of the Homeland Security Office, he led special event and emergency management operations for almost 13 years. His responsibilities included planning and managing large-scale city events such as festivals, parades, and celebrations.

Pagliaro also managed security for high-profile guests and public officials through his oversight of the Dignitary Protection Unit. For six years, he was chief pilot of the department’s drone unit, enhancing public safety operations with aerial surveillance.

Although Pagliaro was set to retire from the police department this summer, he opted to continue his service to Savannah in this new capacity. He will be responsible for overseeing event permitting and coordination, film industry facilitation, and tourism initiatives.
