Savannah city offices close for Memorial Day; sanitation schedule adjusted

City of Savannah administrative offices and facilities will close on Monday, May 26, in observance of Memorial Day. Emergency services will remain operational.

The holiday closure will affect sanitation services. Residents should note the following changes: residential garbage collection and yard waste collection services will not operate on Monday, May 26. These services will resume on Tuesday, May 27, following a one-day delayed schedule.

Curbside recycling for Wednesday routes will be collected on Thursday, May 29. Recycling for other routes will not occur as per the normal schedule. Street sweepers will not operate on Monday, May 26 but will resume their regular routes on Tuesday, May 27.

The Dean Forest Landfill and Bacon Park Transfer Station are scheduled to be closed on Monday, May 26. The Dean Forest Landfill is set to reopen on Tuesday, May 27, while Bacon Park Transfer Station will reopen on Wednesday, May 28.

Residents are reminded to place trash and recycling carts at their normal curbside collection points with at least three feet of separation from each other and mailboxes or other obstructions.
