The City of Savannah has unveiled a newly redesigned website aimed at enhancing service accessibility for its residents. The redesign, informed by community input and site analytics, marks the third major overhaul since 2012. The city regularly updates its website every three to five years to ensure functionality aligns with user needs.

The latest update prioritizes service-oriented features over promotional content, reflecting feedback from community members and the City Council. Analytic data showed that service-oriented pages were among the most visited, prompting this strategic focus.

In 2024, savannahga.gov recorded over 1.5 million active users and 4.8 million pageviews. Notably, more than 500,000 visitors accessed the main page and utility bill payment portal; around 230,000 used the search function; 114,000 visited the pay citations page; 96,000 viewed information on the St. Patrick’s Day Parade; and 78,000 sought hurricane-related information.

Key features of the new website include a reorganized top section offering real-time updates on city services like office operations and waste collection. This section is dynamic and will be updated as needed with relevant notifications.

The Featured Resources section provides easy access to eight essential city services through prominently displayed buttons. These selections are based on both user analytics and feedback from City Council.

A simplified top menu now reflects common public needs while maintaining structured departmental navigation. All internal pages are categorized under Residents/Visitors, Business, or City Services on the main header.

Additional enhancements include an integrated calendar, expanded video and news sections, and translation options for increased accessibility. Mobile optimization was also a priority given that 61.3 percent of users in 2024 accessed the site via mobile devices compared to 37.1 percent on desktops.

The Office of Communications spearheaded this redesign effort and will continue overseeing website operations. To ensure ongoing alignment with public needs, weekly traffic analysis will persist alongside an upcoming public survey for direct feedback.

Residents can send their feedback or inquiries about the new design to opc@savannahga.gov.
