Last week, key figures from Savannah’s business and political landscape traveled to Washington D.C. to engage with Georgia’s Congressional delegation. The group included Bert Brantley, President and CEO of the Savannah Area Chamber, and Jared Downs, Vice President of Government Affairs. They were joined by Joe Marinelli, President and CEO of Visit Savannah, and Kelvin Moore, Executive Director of the Savannah Convention Center.

The delegation met with U.S. Senator Raphael Warnock and U.S. Representative Buddy Carter. Although Senator Jon Ossoff was in Georgia due to family commitments, his staff participated in discussions on pressing issues for Savannah.

Additionally, the team attended a baseball-themed reception organized by the House Committee on Small Business where they interacted with U.S. Representatives Mike Collins and Brian Jack. Conversations addressed several priorities such as funding for the Riverwalk project near the Convention Center, support for Brand USA which promotes U.S. tourism internationally, small business tax provisions under congressional review, and updates related to funding at the Georgia Ports Authority.

Representatives Lee Hughes from Hughes Public Affairs and Yong Choe from YC Consulting were present on behalf of the Convention Center along with Ben Ayers from inSession Strategies representing both the State of Georgia and the Georgia Ports Authority.

The visit served as an opportunity to express gratitude towards Congressional members for their continued support of initiatives benefiting Savannah.
