912 Day began today in Savannah, launching a series of community events that highlight the city’s history and culture. The celebration, named after the local area code, features nine days of activities across the city.
Events include a family kickball and fitness night at Daffin Park hosted by the Chamber, a Coca-Cola pop-up offering free samples, a 5K run at Forsyth Park, youth literacy programs, and a luncheon presented by the Savannah Downtown Business Association. The festivities conclude with a Family Reunion Festival at Savannah State University’s Wright Stadium on September 13.
Additional multi-day activities are planned throughout the week. Comcast/Xfinity is running retail promotions called “September in Savannah.” Students will participate in youth contests sponsored by the Chamber through SCCPSS. Buy Local encourages residents to support local businesses during its “Shop 912” weekend.
Organizers describe 912 Day as an opportunity for residents to connect and recognize what makes Savannah distinctive. “912 Day is our chance to come together, celebrate what connects us, and spotlight the people and places that make Savannah soar.”
A full schedule includes teen kickball at Daffin Park on September 3, a Coca-Cola pop-up on September 4, a porch party with live music at Bull Street Library on September 5, and additional events leading up to block beautification projects and the culminating family festival.
