The Savannah Police Department (SPD), in partnership with the Chatham County District Attorney’s Office, has secured several arrest warrants related to the shooting incident at Oglethorpe Mall on July 2. The suspects involved are currently receiving medical treatment at Memorial Health University Medical Center for injuries sustained during the event.

Chief of Police Lenny B. Gunther emphasized the department’s commitment to justice, stating, “There can be no tolerance for such meaningless violence in our community.” He further added that the SPD is determined to hold all individuals accountable “to the fullest extent of the law.”

The suspects, both under 18 years old, face charges including felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault, possession of a handgun by a minor, and possession of a firearm during a crime. Upon their release from medical care, they will be detained and await formal charges from the District Attorney.

In order to maintain the integrity of the investigation, authorities have withheld the identities of those involved but assured that more information will be released as it becomes available. The SPD encourages anyone with relevant information to contact CrimeStoppers or submit an anonymous tip via their mobile app.

The SPD continues its collaboration with legal authorities to ensure that all charges are appropriately filed and supported by evidence.

“There can be no tolerance for such meaningless violence in our community,” said Chief Gunther. “The Savannah Police Department remains committed to ensuring justice is served.”
