Savannah State University issued the following announcement on Aug. 11.

This week Savannah State University welcomes students back to campus for the fall 2021 semester, kicking off the new academic year with a Week of Welcome schedule of events for new and transfer students. The first day of classes begins August 16.

“We are so excited to see our students returning in person to campus,” said Director of Admissions, Brian Dawsey. “We have several opportunities for those wishing to learn more about Savannah State coming up this semester, including Open Campus Day and tours with our Tiger Ambassadors. After a quiet summer and somewhat virtual atmosphere in 2020, we look forward to seeing our beautiful campus buzzing with activity again.”

As students move into the residence halls this week, the university recognizes COVID-19 vaccines offer safe, effective protection and urges all students, faculty and staff to get vaccinated either on campus or with a local provider. Additionally, everyone is encouraged to wear a mask or face covering while inside campus facilities.
