Valedictorians, Salutatorians, and STAR students from each of the eleven high schools in the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System were honored in a recognition ceremony held at the Yamacraw Performing Arts Center on Thursday, April 7, 2022.  Each of the Distinguished Graduates attending the invitation only ceremony and reception received an award representing the honor.  Valedictorians and Salutatorians also received the medals they are permitted to wear as part of their graduation ceremony regalia.

In order to earn these distinctions, graduating seniors must meet the following criteria:

Salutatorian:  Earned the second highest cumulative grade point average.  Earned at least four units in honors, AP or IB courses, who have attended a Savannah-Chatham County Public high school for the four consecutive semesters preceding the student's graduation date.

STAR Student:  The Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program is sponsored annually by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) and honors Georgia's highest achieving high school seniors.  Every accredited high school in Georgia is eligible to participate in the PAGE STAR Student program.  To qualify for recognition, high school students must have the highest score on any single test date of the SAT taken through the November test date of their Senior Year and be in the top 10 percent or top 10 students of their class based on grade point average.  The nominee's score must be equal to or higher that the 2021 national average scores on the Evidence Based Reading and Writing and Math sections of the SAT.  Each STAR Student is asked to select a STAR Teacher who has been influential in their academic career.
