The City of Savannah's Recreation and Leisure Services Department is set to inaugurate all four city pools on May 28, launching a plethora of aquatic programs for residents this summer. These include swim lessons, water aerobics classes, junior lifeguard classes, lap swimming, and swim teams.

On May 29 at Daffin Park Pool, the City will host a Summer Kick-Off Pool Party replete with food, drinks, and a DJ to commemorate the onset of summer vacation. The party commences at 3:30 p.m. and is free for public attendance.

The City of Savannah owns and operates four pools: The Daffin Park Pool (1301 E. Victory Dr.), Tompkins Community Center Pool (2333 Ogeechee Rd.), Bowles C. Ford Park Pool (1900 Stiles Ave.), and W.W. Law Pool (900 E. Bolton St.). All details regarding the City's aquatics and swimming programming can be accessed at savannahga.gov/aquatics.

Throughout the summer season, all City pools will operate Monday through Thursday from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., reopening from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. On Saturdays, pools will be open from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., then again from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Daffin Park Pool and Bowles C. Ford Pool will also open on Sundays from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30p.m., resuming operations from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Junior lifeguarding classes will be available for youth aged between12 to14 who wish to learn about lifeguard duties while enhancing their swimming skills and understanding pool safety importance.

Community members across all age groups can learn how to swim at any of the four pools across Savannah for a fee of $25. The City also offers two adult sessions with a morning slot at Daffin Park and an evening slot at Tompkins pool.

The City will commence the summer season with a pool party on May 29 at 3:30 p.m. at the Daffin Park Pool. The event will include food, drinks, and a DJ to celebrate the beginning of summer vacation.

Swim teams offer an excellent opportunity for youth aged between 6 to 18 to cultivate their passion for water sports and become confident swimmers. All four city pools are accepting swimmers, with practice scheduled from Monday through Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.

Starting June 4, community members are invited to the Daffin Park Pool for lap swimming every Tuesday and Thursday from 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Water Aerobics classes provide a fun and healthy way for residents aged 17 and up to spend their afternoons this summer. Classes will run from June 3 to Sept. 1 every Monday through Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Daffin Park Pool.
