All non-emergency essential city offices and services in Savannah will be closed on Friday, Sept. 27 due to the impacts of Hurricane Helene. The storm has caused power outages, downed power lines, and multiple impassable roadways. Residents are advised to stay off the roads if possible.

Essential emergency services, including public safety, water and sewer, stormwater management, park and tree maintenance, and traffic engineering will operate at full capacity as weather conditions allow. Yard waste pickup has been postponed from Friday to Saturday this week to give residents time to gather storm-related debris.

Residents encountering downed power lines should not approach them but instead call 911 and report them to Georgia Power at 888-891-0938.

Drivers who must travel are urged to exercise extreme caution. Traffic signals may not be operational due to widespread power outages, and roads may be blocked by fallen trees or other debris. Updates on road closures and other storm-related information can be found online.

The City’s 311 phone line is temporarily out of service due to the storm's impact. Service requests can still be submitted online or via the SAV311 mobile app.
