FOIA Request Sent to Bulloch County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 29, 2024

FOIA Request to Bulloch County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 29, 2024.

In our continuous efforts to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Savannah Standard have sent a request under the Georgia Open Records Act § 50.18.70 et seq., to the Bulloch County Election Department. Our request is for a list of methods they are using to count votes in the upcoming election.

If votes are being manually counted, we have also requested an estimated number of people who will be working on election night. This information is vital as it helps us understand the scale and manpower involved in ensuring a smooth and fair voting process.

As a media organization, our role is not just to report news but also to hold public institutions accountable and provide transparency to the public. Access to such public records enables us to fulfill these professional responsibilities effectively.

We believe that as media professionals, we are eligible for a fee waiver for this request and have communicated the same in our letter.

We await their response and will continue striving towards our commitment of providing accurate news coverage about local governmental affairs.
