Mercer Middle School's 7th-grade team has emerged victorious in the Georgia Council on Economic Education (GCEE) online Stock Market Game Spring 2023 competition for Georgia's 1st Congressional District. The announcement was made on April 25, 2023.
The winning team comprised students Allison Suarez Hernandez, Emma Ramirez-Ramirez, and William Perez Serrato. They achieved the highest portfolio equity among middle schools in their district.
Starting with an initial investment of $100,000, the team's portfolio grew to $107,489.77. This represents a positive return of 7.4617% above S&P 500 growth. Approximately thirty students from Mercer Middle's 6th, 7th, and 8th grades participated in this year's competition. This marks the second consecutive year that Mercer Middle School has been recognized as winners in this event.
