All high schools within the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS) and the Savannah-Chatham E-Learning Academy have been recognized as "No Place for Hate" schools for the 2022-23 academic year. This initiative, spearheaded by the American Defamation League, acknowledges schools committed to fostering an inclusive, safe, and equitable environment.
New Hampstead High School was the first in SCCPSS to receive this recognition. The other institutions achieved this status over the past month.
The "No Place for Hate" program is a grant-funded collaborative effort that offers a framework for students, administrators, teachers, and family members from PreK-12 schools to work together towards inclusivity. It is a student-led initiative focused on promoting inclusivity and preventing bullying with aims to encourage critical thinking among students, instill empathy, and empower them to support each other.
"No Place for Hate" seeks long-term solutions for creating a positive school climate through these collaborative efforts.
