Woodville-Tompkins student excels in welding competition

Woodville-Tompkins High School student Tanner Outen achieved first place at the Xcel South Georgia Welding Competition held on April 20, 2023. Tanner is currently an intern at JCB North America and a senior in the Work-Based Learning Program at Woodville-Tompkins Technical and Career High School.

Tanner competed against welders from various technical colleges, local businesses, and high schools across Georgia and South Carolina. For his first-place finish, he was awarded a Fronius Welding Machine. His success was supported by his welding instructor Barry Kennedy, his mentor at JCB North America Sam O'Connell, and the Xcel organization.
