The City of Savannah's Office of Special Events, Film, and Tourism has announced a series of public meetings to gather community feedback on a proposed pilot program that aims to modify regulations governing walking tours. The meetings are scheduled for January 13 and January 15.

The modifications to the Walking Tour Ordinance have been developed in collaboration with the Tourism Advisory Committee and an ad-hoc Walking Tour Committee. These changes seek to address issues related to noise, residential disturbances, and the sustainability of local walking tour businesses.

Set to commence on February 1, the pilot program will run for a 90-day trial period. It includes significant adjustments such as restricting walking tours south of Liberty Street after 10 p.m. and enforcing a cut-off time of 1 a.m. for all tours.

Residents and employees within the walking tour industry are encouraged to attend these meetings to learn more about the initiative and share their input. For further inquiries, individuals can contact 912-351-3737 Ext. 1888.

Meetings will be held at Coastal Georgia Center located at 305 Fahm St., with sessions on Monday, January 13 at both 11:30 a.m. and 6 p.m., as well as Wednesday, January 15 at 6 p.m.
