The Savannah Convention Center has completed a significant expansion, doubling its size to 660,000 square feet. This $276 million project addresses growing demand and strengthens Savannah's position as a leading destination for large-scale meetings and conventions.

The expansion adds 100,000 square feet of exhibit space, bringing the total to 200,000 square feet. A new 40,000 square-foot ballroom offers flexibility for large gatherings with views of the Savannah Historic District waterfront. The facility now includes 14 additional meeting rooms, totaling 27, and an additional boardroom, increasing the total to five. A new parking garage accommodates up to 900 vehicles.

Kelvin Moore, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Savannah Convention Center, remarked on the improvements: “The enhanced functionality and aesthetics of the newly expanded facility are second to none.” He emphasized the unique views offered by the center.

Joseph Marinelli, President and CEO of Visit Savannah, highlighted the benefits for attracting events: “The expansion equips the Visit Savannah sales team and our sales partners at the SSC with new opportunities... These enhancements will allow us to attract a wider variety of events.”

A headquarters hotel is under development adjacent to the convention center. Combined with existing facilities like the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa, Savannah aims to compete with larger convention destinations.

Angela Daniels, Director of Sales and Marketing for the convention center, noted: “People always love coming to Savannah from a leisure standpoint... this expansion will truly put Savannah on the map for meetings and conventions.”

Last week saw a private tour led by Kelvin Moore for media and local officials. This expansion represents a key investment in maintaining Savannah's status as a top choice for convention planners.
