Hurricane Ian Update #3 NEWS: Hurricane Ian Safety
BRYAN COUNTY, GA, Ian has become a Category 1 hurricane again after entering the Atlantic Ocean and is currently expected to impact land on the South Carolina coast. The earliest expected impacts for Bryan County are now in the early morning hours on Friday, September 30, 2022, and continuing potentially through Saturday.
During the worst of the storm, avoid driving on the roads, if possible. Treat downed power lines as live lines and treat red light outages as four-way stops.
Use power company outage maps to see outages and report downed power lines.
Bryan County, Bryan County Schools, Richmond Hill, and Pembroke will remain closed Friday and will reopen their offices on Monday October 3, 2022. The CSX railway project next to Richmond Hill City Hall will reopen to traffic until 4:00 a.m. Monday, October 3, 2022.
Flooding for areas East of Interstate 95 and high winds throughout the County are the predicted impacts for our area. Storm surge can potentially be 3-5 feet above normal tide. Secure any lawn chairs, garbage cans, trampolines etc. as they can become projectiles in high winds.
