Savannah city offices to close for Juneteenth

City of Savannah administrative offices and facilities will be closed Wednesday, June 19 in observance of Juneteenth. Emergency services will remain open.

Sanitation services will be affected by the holiday closure. Residents can expect the following changes to their schedule:

Residential garbage collection and yard waste collection services will not run on Wednesday, June 19. Collection services will resume on Thursday, June 20, and proceed on a one-day delayed schedule. Street sweepers will not run on Wednesday, June 19. Regular service will resume on Thursday, June 20.

Recycling will not be impacted and will proceed as scheduled. The Dean Forest Landfill and Bacon Park Transfer Station will both be closed on Wednesday, June 19. Both facilities will reopen at their regularly scheduled hours on Thursday, June 20.

Residents are encouraged to consult the Sanitation schedule packets disseminated each year and make note of what day sanitation collection will happen on their route. The schedule is available at savannahga.gov/sanitation. For more information, call (912) 651-6579.
