Eligible residents can now apply for Georgia Power’s expanded Income Qualified Senior Discount program, which offers a monthly discount of $33.50 on electricity bills for qualified households.

To qualify, applicants must meet one or more of the following criteria:

- Be 65 years of age or older with a household income that is 200% or less of the federal poverty level adjusted for household size.

- Receive social security disability insurance.

- Receive supplemental security income.

- Participate in the federal Housing Choice Voucher Program (HUD Section 8).

Applications are processed on a rolling basis, and residents are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to start receiving the discount.

The City’s Office of Sustainability recommended this program to Georgia Power based on feedback from community members collected during the City’s Energy Efficiency Workshops.
