As power outages persist in various parts of Savannah, the City has issued important safety reminders for residents.

Residents using generators for power are advised to read the manual and understand how the machine operates. They should refuel the machine safely, use generators only outside, monitor carbon monoxide output, never leave a generator running unattended, and keep it away from doors and windows.

Drivers are reminded that non-operating stoplights should be treated as all-way stops. Residents driving through affected areas are encouraged to exercise caution, be patient, and stay alert.

The City also urges residents to avoid uprooted or downed trees due to potential hazards. Downed trees can be reported by calling 311.

For lighting during power outages, residents are advised to use flashlights instead of candles due to the significant fire risk posed by candles.
