The annual Veteran’s Day Parade in Savannah is set for Monday, November 11. The event will commence at 10 a.m., with street closures along the parade route beginning as early as 6 a.m.
Traffic and parking in downtown Savannah will be affected by the parade. Parking restrictions within the staging area will start at 12:01 a.m. on Monday. Residents and visitors are advised to heed posted signage along the route and in the staging area.
For safety reasons, parking along the parade route is prohibited. No parking zones will be clearly marked before the parade, and vehicles left in these zones after specified times will be towed at the owner's expense.
The staging area, located on Abercorn Street between E. Gwinnett and E. Park Ave., north to south, and Habersham to Drayton St., west to east, will close at 6 a.m. Roads along the parade route are expected to begin closing at 9 a.m.
The parade will start at E. Gwinnett and Abercorn intersection at 10 a.m., moving north on Abercorn. It will then turn west onto Liberty St., proceed north on Montgomery, travel east on W. Broughton St., and disband at Price St.
Liberty St. will be closed to westbound traffic during this time, while eastbound traffic on Liberty St. cannot travel past Drayton St. Oglethorpe Ave. will be closed in both directions from Montgomery to E. Broad St.
Roads are expected to reopen gradually after the parade passes through each section, with all roads anticipated to be fully open by 2 p.m.
