A tenth-grade student at Savannah Chatham E-Learning Academy, Isabella Evans, has been named April 2023 Student of the Month. Known for her academic achievements and community involvement, Evans is an honor student with perfect attendance for the 2022-23 school year. She actively participates in extracurricular activities, including being a member of the Student Council and Swim Team at Savannah Quarters.

Principal Brown-Hall highlighted Evans' positive influence on her peers, stating that she "has a positive spirit and seeks to uplift both her peers and others around her." Her contributions include participating in supply distribution events like the Greet-n-Treat held at Beach High School and making earrings to raise funds for Haiti. Notably, she created Sea Dragon-themed earrings specifically for SCELA.

Evans is also recognized for her writing talents, having won several contests such as the Veterans Affairs essay contest twice, the Tybee Writing Contest, the Arbor Day Writing Contest, and the Black History Month Poetry Contest hosted by the Savannah Morning News.

Beyond academics and writing, Evans volunteers with the Savannah Baptist Center Youth Group and plays piano at The Church at Godley Station. She received recognition through the Sandy Hook Promise Award and has taken sign language classes with Oklahoma School for Deaf.

Her nominator praised her leadership qualities: “This young lady is a leader and a giver, and that is why she deserves to be recognized as a guiding light in the ocean of Sea Dragons."

Looking ahead, Evans plans to attend Mercer University to pursue studies in Music or Human Services.
