The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS) has announced its 2024 Instructional Support Person of the Year. This annual recognition highlights the contributions of support staff, including nurses, paraprofessionals, custodians, cafeteria workers, media clerks, counselor clerks, and secretaries. Each school selects a representative who competes for the district-wide honor.

This year’s award was presented to Moses Alexander McNeil from Hubert Middle School. McNeil serves as a Behavior Intervention Specialist and discovered his passion for working with students while serving as a substitute teacher in 2021. He is an alumnus of A.E. Beach High School and attended Alabama State University on a percussion scholarship. Reflecting on his journey, McNeil said, "I can't speak enough about the value of public education. It [truly] takes a village to raise a child, and I'm grateful to be blessed to help nurture and groom young people through the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System."

McNeil expressed gratitude towards his Principal Brian Dotson, his wife Valerie McNeil, and the entire Savannah-Chatham County Public School System for their support throughout his career.

As the Instructional Support Person of the Year (ISPY), McNeil will represent all instructional support personnel in SCCPSS. His responsibilities include serving on the Superintendent's Professional Senate, providing updates during monthly School Board Meetings, participating in the ISPY Selection Committee, and advocating for the school system.

During the reception held at Woodville Tompkins Lower Campus on April 25th, four finalists were also recognized:

- Ms. Katina Daniels, Administrative Secretary at Beach High School

- Ms. Laterika Williams, Information Specialist at School of Humanities at Juliette Low Elementary

- Ms. Christina Dalton, Counselor Clerk at Rice Creek K-8 School

- Ms. Ashley Clark, Paraprofessional at Largo-Tibet Elementary

These individuals were acknowledged for their exceptional contributions to their respective schools.
