Thousands of families from the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS) gathered in Daffin Park on Saturday, April 22, 2023, for a free family event celebrating reading and literacy. The event, titled "Books, Blankets & Family Fun," is recognized as the largest Family Engagement Event organized by the school district annually.

Participants enjoyed favorable weather while engaging in various activities. These included food trucks offering diverse options, musical performances to entertain attendees, games for all ages, and reading activities designed to promote literacy. Special guests were also present at the event.

One of the highlights was a Teddy Bear Clinic which added an educational aspect to the day's festivities.
