The City of Savannah's Recreation and Leisure Department has announced an open house event to present the concept for the Daffin Park Signature Playground. Scheduled for Thursday, November 21, the event is part of the city's Recreation Re-Imagined initiative, which aims to enhance recreational experiences for residents and visitors.

Since 2023, Savannah has revitalized over a quarter of its recreational spaces. This includes resurfacing athletic courts, upgrading parks and playgrounds, renovating swimming pools, and installing splash pads. Additionally, community centers have been improved under this initiative.

The Daffin Park Signature Playground will be Savannah's first large-scale inclusive playground. It will feature equipment that encourages physical activity and allows participation from people of all abilities. The playground will include ADA-compliant surfacing with tactile and visual elements designed for children with different needs.

Key features of the new playground include an inclusive tower providing enhanced playability and musical components for auditory stimulation. The design caters to children aged six months to twelve years.

Residents are invited to view the proposed design and discuss it with staff from the Recreation and Leisure Department. The open house will take place in Daffin Park at the northwest corner near Waters Avenue from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., with popcorn and refreshments available for attendees.
