The Tompkins Regional Center, located at 2333 Ogeechee Road, will provide overnight shelter for residents in need of a warm place to stay during extreme cold conditions. The center will open on Sunday and Monday from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following morning. Pets are allowed under the owner's control, and while basic necessities for people will be available, pet owners should bring necessary supplies for their animals. The capacity at the warming center is limited.

Starting Tuesday, the center will extend its hours from 3 p.m. until 11 a.m. on Thursday, maintaining the same provisions for pets and essentials.

Residents are advised to limit travel, remain indoors, check on elderly neighbors, and ensure pets are brought inside during severe cold weather.

For those needing assistance with transportation to shelters, the Savannah Police Department (SPD) and Chatham Savannah Authority for the Homeless (CSAH) offer support. SPD can be reached at their non-emergency number: 912-652-6500. For help with cold weather support for unhoused individuals, CSAH can be contacted at 912-790-3400 or through outreach staff at 912-784-1794.

Homeless Service Provider Partners have extended their services to accommodate homeless individuals during this period. CSAH provides transportation through outreach staff from 6 to 9 p.m. on Sunday and Monday.

Union Mission offers meals and up to eleven bed spaces exclusively for men from January 19-23 at its location on Fahm Street. Similarly, Old Savannah City Mission will operate as an overnight warming center providing meals from January 19-23 at Bull Street.

Come As You Are will provide meals and cots for up to twenty-five people between January 21-23 at Skidaway Road.

Union Mission Grace House Day Center will open on Tuesday, January 21; however, operations may change based on weather conditions on January 22 and 23.
