The City of Savannah's Municipal Archives is set to host a free teacher training session focused on the city's interfaith history. Scheduled for Monday, February 10, the event will be led by the Savannah Community Memory Project (SCMP) Residency Team.

This initiative introduces the "Faith in Action: Perspectives on Savannah’s Interfaith Community" project. Targeted at eighth-grade teachers and students, it aligns with Georgia’s Social Studies Standards of Excellence. The project offers an educational website that delves into Savannah's interfaith history and current social initiatives.

Participants will learn how to incorporate this resource into their lesson plans, gain access to archival materials, and participate in a live Q&A with the residency team. The SCMP Residency Project includes over 30 recorded interviews with community leaders, historians, and citizens.

Luciana Spracher, Director of Municipal Archives, stated, “The SCMP Residency Project provides a creative way to collect, preserve, and share Savannah’s history.” She emphasized that through this project they are preserving diverse voices from Savannah's faith communities.

While attendance is free, space is limited and registration is required. Educators and community members can register at savannahga.gov/FaithRegistration. More information about the project can be found at savannahga.gov/FaithInAction.

The event will take place at the Adams Administrative Building on February 10 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:40 p.m.
