Joseph A. Melder joins Leadership Georgia Class of 2025

City Manager Joseph A. Melder has been selected for the Leadership Georgia Class of 2025, as announced by the Leadership Georgia Board of Trustees. The program annually chooses sixty-three participants from hundreds of applicants to join its yearlong leadership initiative.

Leadership Georgia aims to develop strong leaders for the state's future. Participants come from various parts of Georgia and engage in programs addressing significant issues affecting different communities within the state.

Mayor Van R. Johnson, II expressed his support for Melder's participation, stating, "As a proud graduate of the Leadership Georgia Class of 2006, I can personally attest to the transformative experience this program offers." He added that Melder's involvement would enhance his work in Savannah and strengthen connections across Georgia.

Mayor Johnson also noted that Melder's participation might require occasional travel and asked for understanding regarding this commitment.

The class will engage in five programs throughout the year, focusing on challenges and solutions relevant to Georgians. Camila Knowles from Atlanta will lead the 2025 class under the theme "Intentional – Informed – Inspired."

Leadership Georgia was founded in 1971 and is considered a prestigious statewide leadership organization affiliated with the Georgia Chamber of Commerce. Since its inception, over 5,000 leaders have participated in its programs.
